Setting Goals that Reflect our Greater Values

What would this world look like if we each took this time of social distancing to stop and reflect on our greatest values and how to better implement them in our daily lives?    Especially here in the United States, we have a culture focused on productivity and running the rat race.  Unfortunately, our focus and daily tasks have led us to be less happy now than Americans have been since happiness was first measured in the mid 20th century.

What can each of us do to take this time to improve our own well-being and set some new guidelines for ourselves moving forward?

Take a minute.  What do you most value, and which of these values would you like to emphasize more in your daily life?  What are some minor changes that you can make to prioritize your highest beliefs?  Once you have answered these questions for yourself, you can utilize various tools to help keep you on track.  First, setting goals for each week can work wonders for keeping you focused on how your actions relate to your greater standards.  Then, put the tasks to accomplish these goals into your daily planner.  Tracking your daily actions and reflecting on your week’s progress toward your goals will provide you with encouragement and empower you to keep moving forward.

We can all get through this.

And, maybe, with some work, we’ll come out even stronger and a little more grounded on the other side.
